Daryll Henderson, 33, a driver under the influence of drugs, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison following a deadly collision on the M25 that resulted in the deaths of two of his companions and injuries to another individual. Surrey Police reported that Henderson had consumed cannabis and cocaine prior to the incident, which occurred near Bletchingley in Surrey on 23 February 2023. The individual, a resident of Bristol, admitted guilt to two charges of causing death by dangerous driving and one charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving during a court session in June. His sentencing took place at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday. Detective Constable Matthew Lloyd commented, stating: “Henderson’s decision has robbed two families of their sons, and the life of the passenger who survived will never be the same.” According to police accounts, Henderson was operating his blue Mercedes A-Class when he lost control of the vehicle, colliding with a fence and a tree before ultimately crashing into a lamp post. Jamie Baines, 31, who was in the front passenger seat, and Mohammed Quereshi, 29, a rear seat passenger, both originating from Bristol, succumbed to their injuries. Both Henderson and an additional passenger in the rear sustained severe injuries and received medical attention at St George’s Hospital in Tooting. Surrey Police indicated that the motorway remained impassable for over eight hours as emergency personnel managed the scene. Police reported that a blood test conducted on Henderson after the crash revealed he exceeded the legal thresholds for both cocaine and cannabis. Furthermore, Surrey Police stated that during an interview, Henderson confessed to being the driver and to having smoked cannabis with his friends inside the vehicle before the collision. Mr. Lloyd emphasized: “The message cannot be stated enough – do not take drugs and drive. The consequences of doing so can be devastating.” Post navigation Man Jailed for Sledgehammer Assault and Tax Fraud Pilot Program for Women’s Nighttime Safe Space Initiated
