Omer Riza, Cardiff City’s interim manager, stated that he engaged in “constructive talks” with the club’s board, indicating his potential appointment as the Bluebirds’ permanent manager is nearing. The Bluebirds’ recent resurgence under Riza’s leadership persisted when Callum Robinson and Callum O’Dowda scored two late goals, leading to a surprising victory over Norwich City in the Welsh capital. According to BBC Sport Wales, Riza had a meeting with Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman and chief executive Ken Choo prior to the match against the Canaries. Under Riza’s management, Cardiff has accumulated 14 points across seven matches, with the Bluebirds securing four wins, two draws, and only one defeat. “We’ve had a good constructive meeting yesterday and we will move forward with that,” Riza informed BBC Sport Wales. He added, “I was really happy with the meeting and I am sure in due course the board will talk with you guys (the media).” Riza expressed that he continues to relish his current role, which he took on after the dismissal of the former manager, Erol Bulut. “I have been working hard for a long-time for a position like this,” Riza further stated. He concluded, “This opportunity has come around (being interim manager) and I am thankful for it and I think everyone is applying themselves the right way, we are getting results and I’d like to think that everyone is happy.“We will keep moving forwards.”
