Scotstown Secures Eighth Monaghan SFC Title in a Decade; Fermanagh Final Heads to Replay

Scotstown secured their eighth Monaghan Senior Football Championship title within a decade, defeating Clontibret with a final score of 1-10 to 0-8. The sole goal of the match came in the 39th minute from Jack McCarron, who dispossessed Clontibret in their defensive zone. Capitalizing on goalkeeper Darren McDonnell being off his line, McCarron sent the ball into an unguarded net from approximately 30 yards. The first half saw a closely contested exchange of scores, with Scotstown holding a narrow 0-5 to 0-4 advantage at halftime. Following McCarron’s goal, their lead appeared unassailable. For the winning side, Rory Beggan successfully converted two dead-ball opportunities, while Conor McCarthy contributed a point from open play. The Fermanagh Senior Football Championship final will require a replay after Enniskillen Gaels and Erne Gaels Belleek concluded their match in a 0-8 to 0-8 draw at Brewster Park. Both Enniskillen Gaels and Erne Gaels are set to compete again next weekend, as the Fermanagh SFC Final resulted in an 0-8 apiece draw, necessitating a replay. Erne Gaels established a lead three times during the first half, with scores from Man of the Match Dan McCann (two) and Oisin Kelm. Each time, Enniskillen equalized through contributions from Conor Murphy, Ethan Beresford, and Eoin Beacom. Beacom scored once more to give his team an advantage, but Erne Gaels held a 0-5 to 0-4 lead at halftime, thanks to points from Ultan and Aogan Kelm. Enniskillen commenced the second half strongly, registering three consecutive scores from John Reihill, Callum Jones, and Beresford. Erne, however, remained competitive, regaining the lead with two scores from Ultan Kelm sandwiching a point from McCann. Nevertheless, Enniskillen Gaels goalkeeper Ross Bogue secured the final point of the match from a ’45, ensuring both teams will face each other again in a replay next week.
