The Aston Martin Formula One team has officially unveiled a new event venue, aiming to merge the worlds of motorsport and music. The team, situated in Silverstone, inaugurated its £200m facility by hosting its inaugural Soundcheck event. This Aston Martin F1 Team Technology Campus features a brand experience centre, equipped with a stage, where the emerging Newcastle upon Tyne singer-songwriter Andrew Cushin was the main performer. Will Hings, a spokesman for Aston Martin, stated: “We wanted to find a way to bring Formula 1 and music closer together, and also celebrate and support new talent.” The organization, formerly known as the Racing Point F1 team, adopted the renowned British manufacturer’s name in 2021. The team, under the ownership of Lawrence Stroll, includes drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso, with Alonso achieving six podium finishes in the initial eight races. Sophie Ackland, the chief people officer for the F1 team, commented: “This campus is so incredibly special and it’s absolutely crucial in terms of our strategy for becoming a world championship winning team.” She added: “They dedicate their lives to this and work so incredibly hard to be a part of this team.” Cushin remarked: “It’s an honour to be playing here; it’s a new experience for me to be playing in front of a Formula 1 car.” He continued: “I’ve always felt music and sport belong together so I’m really proud to begin collaborating with a brand that values creativity and inclusivity.” For updates on Northamptonshire news, follow BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
