The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has elevated the rating of a care provider for older individuals from “inadequate” to “good.” This upgrade follows an “inadequate” rating for Sunnyfield Court, located in Sunny Hill, Derby, which was issued after a July 2023 inspection revealed that residents were not provided with safe care. The earlier inspection also identified issues with the safe management of medicines and inadequate safeguarding practices for individuals. However, a subsequent inspection conducted at the close of May determined that the service had undergone significant improvements, leading to its removal from the lowest possible overall rating. Greg Rielly, the CQC deputy director of operations in the Midlands, commented: “When we inspected Sunnyfield Court, we saw that significant improvements had been made in response to concerns we raised at our last inspection.“People were happy with the care provided and told us staff were kind, caring, and went the extra mile to make them feel better if they were feeling unwell or sad.” He further noted that the facility received an overall ‘good’ rating across the subcategories of safety, caring, responsiveness, effectiveness, and leadership. Profad Care Agency Limited has assumed control of the homecare service, which caters to older individuals living with dementia, mental health challenges, and disabilities. During the period of the initial inspection, ICare (GB) Limited was responsible for its operation. Mr. Rielly stated: “We saw a positive atmosphere with staff and people laughing together, and people were supported with any activities or external healthcare appointments they needed.“One staff member told us how they always considered the ‘mum test’ and explained how the care they provided would be how they would want a member of their family to be cared for.” He concluded by saying: “Everyone at the service should be really proud of the improvements they’ve made.” Post navigation Woman from 1960s Blood Donor Film Appeals for More Donors Norovirus Vaccine Development Advances, Clinical Trials Underway
