Proposals for the construction of additional apartments at the location of a previous council administrative building have been submitted in Lincolnshire. This structure, situated on St Peter’s Hill in Grantham, previously accommodated the customer services centre for South Kesteven District Council. A section of the edifice has already secured planning approval for conversion into 24 independent residential units, comprising one to three bedrooms. An additional planning application has been lodged, seeking approval for a further four residential units. The Local Democracy Reporting Service reports that the latest proposal for the property does not necessitate any changes to its exterior and is designed to integrate with the development plan that received prior consent. This 20th-century structure, which is not listed, stands next to the Grade II-listed Guildhall and Sessions Hall, and is located within Grantham’s designated conservation zone. Personnel from the council relocated to new premises situated above the Savoy Cinema in January 2023, with the objective of generating an estimated annual saving of £300,000 in operational expenses for taxpayers.
