Chris Ingram, accompanied by co-driver Alex Kihurani, who secured wins in four of the championship’s seven rounds, has become the first driver to achieve both the British and European Rally Championship titles following his triumph at the Cambrian Rally. The 30-year-old, having previously won the European title in 2019, has now added the British Championship to his accomplishments after defeating his closest competitor, William Creighton, in Wales. In what was essentially a decisive contest between Ingram and Creighton, the English driver, Ingram, established a narrow advantage of five seconds after the initial four stages. Creighton, a driver from the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy, remained in contention, but Ingram extended his lead over the final two stages to secure top honors in both the rally and the championship. Ingram, who is aiming for a return to the World Rally Championship, stated that winning the British title brought a “relief” after an “amazing season.” The Manchester-born driver informed the BRC, “Will has pushed so hard today and we have had to give it everything we had.” He further commented, “It’s not been an easy season, but that really adds to the story for us. It’s been amazing competition.” Oisin Pryce, who was considered an outside contender for the title, finished in third place, while Keith Cronin, who also had a slim chance at the championship, retired early in the rally due to a mechanical issue. Creighton, who was competing in his first full season with Rally2 machinery after winning the Junior WRC title in 2023, remarked, “I tried.” He added, “It’s been a difficult year, stepping up into the Rally2 car has been amazing and to compete at the top of the British Rally Championship, we are very lucky.”
