A Christmas advertising campaign launched by a police force prominently features a young girl’s letter to Santa, in which she requests “my daddy to come home.” Cheshire Police aims for this message, presented from the perspective of a child whose parent is absent due to them committing crime, to encourage individuals to reflect on how their actions affect family members. Chief Superintendent Jon Betts stated: “If you choose to… commit crime then you will have no-one to blame but yourself. We hope the message hits home and [people] think about how their loved ones would feel if they weren’t there over the festive period.” Throughout the month of December, law enforcement officers will intensify efforts against anti-social behaviour, violence against women and girls, domestic abuse, and offences related to drink and drug driving.
