Rene Meulensteen, a former coach for Manchester United, commented on BBC Radio 5 Live, stating: “Looking at the game around the 65-to-70 minute mark, I thought to myself – why have United fallen back and giving PAOK all the space to play?” However, Diallo’s timely goal introduced what Meulensteen described as “a different feel, a different energy and a bit more freedom.” He acknowledged, “There is still a lack of quality in the final third, but eventually they kept going and Diallo got the goal.” Meulensteen concluded that it felt “almost as if you can start to enjoy watching Manchester United again.” Regarding the managerial situation, Meulensteen praised Ruud van Nistelrooy for effectively utilizing his time to engage with the players. Despite Ruben Amorim’s anticipated arrival, van Nistelrooy reportedly told the team, “I have four games with you guys and we need to fix those things.” Meulensteen assessed van Nistelrooy’s performance as having “done a great job.” Turning to Amad Diallo, the goalscorer, Meulensteen declared, “Diallo was by far the best man.” He described Diallo’s first goal as a “brilliant header, a very clever header.” Meulensteen expressed greater admiration for the second goal, attributing it to Diallo’s “tenacity, pressing to win the ball back and then to dribble inside and have a fantastic finish.” He concluded that Diallo was “magnificent” for a player who has not frequently started games.
