Law enforcement has commenced a homicide investigation in a village following the demise of a man in his seventies. Investigators responded to an address in Garsington, situated close to Oxford, just after 22:00 GMT on Sunday. The individual was discovered at the Oxford Road residence suffering from a severe head injury and subsequently passed away at a hospital earlier on Tuesday, according to Thames Valley Police. A 40-year-old male resident of Garsington, who had been previously apprehended on suspicion of wounding with intent and assaulting a police officer, has been re-apprehended on suspicion of murder, the police agency further stated. Detective Inspector Alice Broad commented: “I understand that incidents such as this are tragic events and I recognise the concern this will cause in the local community.” “However, we are confident that there is no wider risk to the community and that the victim and offender are known to each other.” She indicated that officers would maintain a presence at the location for an extended period as the investigation progresses.
