Lana Del Rey is scheduled to commence her UK tour in Cardiff next year. The artist known for “Summertime Sadness” is set to perform at the Principality Stadium on June 23, marking her inaugural performance in Wales. This concert forms part of the singer’s most extensive tour across the UK and Ireland, which also includes stadium appearances in Glasgow, Liverpool, Dublin, and London. The 39-year-old artist was a headliner at this year’s Reading and Leeds festival and also led the lineup at the American festival Coachella. The American singer-songwriter gained significant media attention when her performance at Glastonbury 2023 was abbreviated due to her late arrival, with her “blaming the 30-minute delay on her hairstylists – for which she apologised.” Del Rey, whose birth name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, rose to prominence in 2011 following the release of her single “Video Games,” which was succeeded by her self-titled debut album. Since then, she has put out nine albums and earned several awards, such as two Brit awards, all while cultivating a mysterious and glamorous public persona. She will join artists such as Oasis and Bruce Springsteen in commencing a UK tour at the Principality Stadium. Tickets will become available for purchase on Friday at 10:00 GMT. Copyright 2024 BBC.
