Law enforcement officials in Birmingham are looking into an attack against a taxi driver in his eighties. Authorities stated that the individual was reportedly “repeatedly punched” on Kings Heath High Street on 23 November by a male fare-payer who had been a passenger in his vehicle. Officers further noted that the senior taxi operator suffered “nasty facial injuries” during the event, which occurred around 16:15 GMT. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police commented, “This was a totally unacceptable attack and we’re carrying out active enquiries to identify who was involved.” The police service is examining CCTV footage as part of its investigation and urged anyone with relevant details to get in touch. Concurrently, an online fundraising campaign initiated by fellow taxi drivers in the area for the injured party has collected over £740. Carl Wilson, the organizer, stated on his fundraising platform that his aim was to provide the victim “some time off with his family to recover, without worrying about loss of earnings, after being violently attacked just trying to earn a living.”
