A couple, commemorating their 70th wedding anniversary, shared that shared adventures contribute to a joyful marriage. Bob and Sylvia Tadd first encountered each other during their teenage years while residing across the street in Bath. Their marriage took place at the city’s registry office on 18 December 1954. In 1966, they relocated to a farm cottage in the village of Winscombe, Somerset, where they continue to reside together. Mr. Tadd, aged 89, conveyed to the BBC, “You’ve got to get on if you are going to be together. You’ve got to please one another all the time… but we don’t always.” The couple intends to observe their anniversary at their residence with an afternoon tea. Mr. Tadd stated, “We drink tea. We don’t drink wine… well, we do drink wine, if it’s given to us.” “I don’t know whether there’s any rules or regulations to happy marriages.” Mrs. Tadd, 88, further stated: “We had our ups and downs, and you know, we get on with it.” The couple’s family includes four children, six grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Beyond raising their offspring, they have journeyed across the globe as a pair, though their family indicates they have predominantly led an uncomplicated existence in Somerset. When asked to describe the most romantic gesture they have performed for each other, Mrs. Tadd responded, “Just being there I think.” Mr. Tadd concurred, saying, “Always being there; she’s always there.” The couple is scheduled to receive a congratulatory card from the King in recognition of this significant milestone.
