The council has announced that a fleet comprising 39 gritter vehicles is prepared to ensure the safety of Surrey’s roads throughout the upcoming winter season. With the onset of colder weather, Surrey County Council has stockpiled 10,000 tonnes of salt across its four depots. According to the council, winter operations typically commence in October and conclude by the end of March. However, these operations could be prolonged if severe weather conditions necessitate, the council further noted. Matt Furniss, the cabinet member responsible for highways, transport, and economic growth, stated: “We are committed to keeping drivers safe here in Surrey and investing in our roads.” He continued: “When temperatures plummet, our highways teams across the county will be ready to work around the clock to keep traffic moving on our primary routes using our new, efficient gritters.” Furniss added: “Keeping our roads safe this winter is part of a series of highways improvements we’ll be making across our busy network.” Post navigation Berkshire’s Daily Image Feature: Wednesday’s County View Festive Motorcycle Event Canceled Due to Severe Gale Forecast
