Singer Chappell Roan and rapper Travis Scott are confirmed as headliners for the Reading and Leeds festival next year. Metal band Bring Me The Horizon and singer-songwriter Hozier are also scheduled to be among the top acts at both events over the August bank holiday weekend. This year, Chappell Roan, known for her song “Pink Pony Club,” has experienced a significant rise in popularity, driven by her singles “Hot to Go!” and “Pink Pony Club,” a sold-out UK tour, and her debut album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.” Melvin Benn, the head of the organizing body Festival Republic, referred to her as “an inspiring new pop star poised to define a generation.” The festival’s current year line-up, which was unveiled on BBC Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders, additionally features AJ Tracey, Becky Hill, and rapper Trippie Redd. Other artists confirmed for the roster include Sammy Virji, Enter Shikari, The Kooks, Bloc Party, Conan Gray, Amyl and The Sniffers, and Wunderhorse. Rudim3ntal, Suki Waterhouse, The Dare, Lambrini Girls, and Lola Young are also slated to perform, with further acts yet to be announced. It has been a remarkably eventful year for Chappell Roan, who received the best new artist award at September’s VMAs after canceling two European performances to attend the ceremony. She also withdrew from the All Things Go festival in Washington DC and New York City, explaining that she felt overwhelmed by the pressures associated with her newfound fame. Travis Scott, whose last appearance at Reading and Leeds was in 2018, recently concluded his Utopia – Circus Maximus Tour, following the release of his album “Utopia,” which became his first UK number one. In 2021, he performed at the Astroworld music festival in Texas, where 10 individuals died after a crowd surge towards the stage. Last year, he was forced to cancel a concert scheduled in front of Egypt’s pyramids, attributing the cancellation to “complex production issues.” Mr. Benn stated that the rapper’s headlining slot in 2025 would mark an “exclusive appearance” in Europe. Lana Del Rey and Blink-182 were the headliners for the summer festivals in 2023, a year when two stages at the Leeds site were closed due to Storm Lilian. Mr. Benn asserted that the 2025 line-up is among the “youngest” in years and reflects “an exciting wave of inspiring voices breaking through in pop culture.” The events are scheduled to take place at Richfield Avenue in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds from August 21-24, with tickets becoming available for general purchase on Monday.
