Luke Boden has been sentenced to prison for his part in a jewellery robbery in Nottingham, which was recorded on camera. Mr. Boden was one of two individuals, both wearing helmets, who targeted Cope Jewellers in the city. They stole watches valued at £130,000. Surveillance footage indicated that while Mr. Boden stood by the door, another perpetrator, who remains unidentified, used a lump hammer to shatter glass display units. The 29-year-old, residing on Maud Street in New Basford, Nottingham, received a seven-year sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday. This followed his admissions of robbery, attempted robbery, and driving while disqualified. Law enforcement reported that the perpetrators absconded with 25 high-value watches on 3 September. Shortly after the robbery, Mr. Boden, who was unemployed, acquired a new car costing £6,000 and spent several hundred pounds at JD Sports. In a victim impact statement, the owner of the business stated: “Witnessing two men, dressed in black, wearing motorcycle gear whilst they barricaded the door and smashed the display cabinets with a hammer, was traumatising, and I will never forget it.” Police also indicated that an elderly customer was pushed by one of the robbers while trying to escape the premises. A jewellery stall located on High Street in Long Eaton was also attacked on the same day, with police asserting a connection between the two incidents. Three days later, authorities were informed of Mr. Boden’s involvement in the Nottingham robbery and that the motorcycle used for the escape had been discarded in bushes close to City Hospital. Investigators subsequently discovered surveillance footage linking Mr. Boden to the event and located an Audi A3 parked outside his residence, which had been acquired following the robbery. On 8 September, when police conducted a raid on his home, officers confiscated a substantial amount of cash, clothing, and two yellow JD Sports bags. After Mr. Boden’s sentencing, Detective Inspector Chris Berryman commented: “These two incidents have left a lasting impact on all of those involved and I am pleased Boden has been swiftly brought to justice.”
