A man has been incarcerated following an incident where he forcibly entered the home of a 71-year-old and threatened the occupant with a piece of wood. Ashley Moss, 36, from Earsham Close, Hull, was charged with aggravated burglary in connection with the incident that occurred on 16 February. Police stated that Moss stole £500 from the victim’s wallet, along with cigarettes and tobacco, before fleeing the scene. On Wednesday, he received a sentence of seven years and two months in prison at Hull Crown Court, having entered a guilty plea. PC Nicola Knight, of Humberside Police, stated: “Any intrusion into a person’s property is bound to be a terrifying ordeal, but the involvement of a weapon understandably left the victim shaken.” She added: “I hope the outcome provides the public with some reassurance that incidents like this will not be tolerated.”
