A national baby milk brand plans to generate approximately 100 new employment opportunities after acquiring a location situated close to the Staffordshire-Shropshire border. Excelsior Foods, a division of the broader Kendal Nutricare group, will occupy the former Premier Foods premises in Knighton, Stafford. The hiring process is scheduled to occur over the coming 24 months, encompassing positions such as laboratory assistants, production supervisors, and roles within HR and IT support. Aidan Godfrey, the leader of Stafford Borough Council, expressed approval of this development, commending the region’s capacity to draw in national companies while also fostering smaller, established enterprises. He stated that the multi-million-pound capital injection illustrated that Stafford was “a great area to invest and do business in”. He further remarked: “I expect having the site back in business will be helping the local communities already.” Siobhan Fotheringham, the group’s international business director, commented: “The Staffordshire location was a great option for us given the dairy industry on the doorstep and local knowledge of spray drying milk powders for nutritional products.” Ross McMahon MBE, the chief executive officer, similarly lauded the area for “the rich history and experience in food and drink production,” and stated: “We look forward to seeing this site return to its former glory in the coming 24 months.” For updates from BBC Stoke & Staffordshire, access BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
