Wolverhampton will host its inaugural parade dedicated to celebrating individuals in addiction recovery. The city’s proposal for the 2025 Recovery Walk, scheduled for 13 September in West Park, received widespread support through a public vote, with thousands endorsing the bid. This yearly event will also feature a gathering for individuals who have experienced challenges with drug or alcohol addiction, alongside their friends and families. Annemarie Wardm, representing the organizing body FAVOR UK, stated that the walk “makes recovery visible, fosters hope, and unites us in a shared mission of compassion and change”. The Good Shepherd and Wolverhampton Voluntary and Community Action’s Service User Involvement Team spearheaded Wolverhampton’s successful bid. The city council and the Recovery Near You organisation also participated as partners in the initiative. Ms Ward commented that the bid showcased “passion and dedication” and illustrated the city’s dedication to dismantling the stigma associated with addiction. She added, “This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the strength, resilience, and unity of the recovery community in Wolverhampton and beyond.” Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, who serves as the cabinet member for adults and wellbeing at City of Wolverhampton Council, indicated that the walk would underscore the local dedication to assisting individuals in recovery. She remarked, “We see this event as a vital step in our ongoing efforts to support recovery and resilience in our communities.” Post navigation Football Fan Credits CPR for Saving His Life After Cardiac Arrest Royal United Hospitals Bath Maternity Team Commended in National Survey
