Wales midfielder Jess Fishlock, who became her country’s all-time record goalscorer after scoring against Kosovo in July, has agreed to a new one-year contract with Seattle Reign. The 37-year-old Fishlock, Wales’ record goalscorer, initially joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team, based in the American state of Washington, prior to their first season in 2013. With this new agreement, she is set to play for Reign during the 2025 campaign. “I’ve always believed in this club and the environment we have established here,” Fishlock stated. “Whether it’s winning three Shields, breaking attendance records or making historic runs, I know how much we value greatness at the Reign. “I’m looking forward to creating more memories with this club and our community as we continue to rise to new levels in 2025.” Fishlock holds the second-highest number of appearances in Reign’s history with 224, and her 42 goals also place her second in the club’s all-time scoring records. She is among only five players in NWSL history to have achieved more than 40 goals and over 25 assists, alongside Jess McDonald, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Lynn Williams. Seattle Reign general manager Lesle Gallimore commented, “Jess Fishlock is a legendary player for our club, instrumental in establishing Seattle Reign FC’s presence both in the US and worldwide. “With a career spanning over two decades, we’re incredibly fortunate that she has chosen Seattle as her home for most of that time. “Her leadership, football intelligence and competitive spirit make her invaluable to our team, and we’re thrilled that she will be extending her career here in 2025.” Fishlock, who has accumulated 46 goals in 156 international appearances for her country, recently surpassed Megan Rapinoe’s record of 26 to become the club’s all-time leader in assists. Following her recent return from injury, where she assisted Wales in defeating Slovakia in the Euro 2025 play-off semi-final, Fishlock is now focused on securing a win against the Republic of Ireland in the two-legged play-off final scheduled for later this year.
