Firefighters have successfully extinguished a blaze at an outbuilding. The Essex Fire Service reported receiving a call regarding the incident on Mumford’s Hill in Wethersfield at 18:13 GMT on Friday. Upon arrival, emergency personnel observed the structure approximately 80% engulfed in flames. Crews from Wethersfield, Halstead, Braintree, and Coggeshall had brought the situation under control by approximately 20:40. Station manager Pete Donovan praised the work of the firefighters, stating: “It went from a situation where we thought the building would be completely destroyed to a position where it is now saveable.” An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently under way.
