Police have reported that a man and a woman, who were struck by a vehicle, are now in a life-threatening condition due to their injuries. The two individuals, both in their sixties, were transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham following the incident. They were struck by a black Mercedes in Northfield around 13:00 GMT on Monday. Subsequently, a 52-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving. He has since been released while the investigation proceeds. West Midlands Police confirmed that officers have “spoken to a number of potential witnesses.” The collision occurred close to the intersection of Frankley Beeches Road and Sir Herbert Austin Way. The thoroughfare remained closed for several hours as accident investigators examined the site, but it has since been reopened.
