Charges have been brought against an individual subsequent to a double-decker bus colliding with a railway bridge, resulting in the complete removal of its roof. Law enforcement officials verified that a 34-year-old individual received a charge for a road traffic offence in connection with the event in Kilmarnock, which involved a Stagecoach vehicle. Emergency responders were summoned to Culzean Crescent within the town at approximately 13:55 on Thursday. Eight individuals were transported to a medical facility; however, no serious injuries were reported. The Stagecoach service was en route to Bellfield in Kilmarnock when it proceeded beneath the bridge situated at Macphail Drive. The bus’s roof was entirely detached and stayed at the scene as the vehicle continued through the underpass. A nearby sign indicates that the bridge is unsuitable for vehicles exceeding 8ft 3ins (2.5m) in height. Stagecoach West Scotland stated that inquiries into the collision are continuing, and the bus operator is collaborating closely with law enforcement. This recent collision follows a previous incident where a double-decker bus struck a railway bridge in Glasgow on Saturday, December 14. Five individuals were transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for medical attention, with one person reported to be in a critical state. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
