The BBC is initiating a reality television program designed to identify its next football content creator and expert. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating digital content for BBC Sport, with appearances across various platforms including television, radio, digital channels, and social media, specifically on shows like Football Focus and BBC Radio 5 Live. For this initiative, BBC Creator Lab is collaborating once more with TikTok, aiming to uncover the United Kingdom’s most promising football creators. The social media platform will facilitate the promotion and discovery of prospective participants’ contributions, in addition to offering skill development and training. Selected candidates will subsequently compete in the reality program, which is scheduled for broadcast on the BBC in the period leading up to Women’s Euro 2025. Radio 1 will also provide coverage of the competition’s developments. Fiona Campbell, the BBC controller of youth audience, stated: “This is our biggest creator opportunity to date. A chance to work with the BBC’s top Sport team and appear on some of the country’s biggest football shows as well as to appear on Radio 1 and a digital series.” She added: “We cannot wait to uncover and collaborate with the most exciting football creators in the UK.” Alex Kay-Jelski, director of BBC Sport, commented: “There can’t be many better jobs than working with the BBC’s football team, so if you think you know the game better than anyone, get applying. This could change your life.” Aled Haydn Jones, head of Radio 1, expressed: “I’m thrilled to collaborate with BBC Creator Lab and BBC Sport on this exciting project. It’s an incredible opportunity for aspiring football pundits and I can’t wait to bring our young listeners along on the journey.” Melissa McFarlane, TikTok’s UK head of operations, further remarked: “Football fandom is a vast and vibrant community on TikTok, and we can’t wait to see how a new wave of creators will bring fresh perspectives to the beautiful game.” The previous year’s Creator Lab initiative facilitated the participation of 90 social and digital creators from throughout the UK in two-day, in-person development programs. Additional information regarding the application process will be available through the BBC Creator Lab, with the application period expected to commence shortly.
