An individual has been taken into custody after being observed with a sword inside a McDonald’s restaurant. Armed police units were dispatched to the fast-food establishment, situated on Ashgate Road in Hucknall, on Tuesday, shortly before 14:00 GMT, following reports of an armed person. The suspect was confronted outside the eatery and subsequently arrested. Police confirmed that a 23-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. A police dog was also deployed during the operation. The sword, which was encased in a wooden sheath, has been confiscated. Inspector Tim Ringer stated: “We deployed a large number of resources to this location in order to protect the public from harm.” He added, “Thanks to the professionalism of the officers involved, this incident was soon resolved without any significant injures, and a dangerous weapon was removed from the streets.”
