British tennis player Cameron Norrie secured a victory over Luca van Assche at the Moselle Open, marking his progression to an ATP Tour quarter-final for the first time since April. Norrie had previously reached the third round at Wimbledon before sustaining a forearm injury. Norrie, who had been sidelined for nearly three months due to a forearm injury, defeated his French opponent with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. This achievement marks the 29-year-old’s first instance of securing consecutive victories on the primary ATP Tour circuit since Wimbledon in July. The world number 57, Norrie, has yet to claim an ATP title this season. His performance was hampered by a lack of rhythm prior to the injury, which subsequently forced him to withdraw from both the Olympics and the US Open. His most recent quarter-final appearance occurred on the clay courts of the Barcelona Open, where he was defeated by Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Speaking to Sky Sports, Norrie stated, “I’m just trying to enjoy the last week of the year for me competing.” He added, “I’m here another day, which is great, but I’ll have to improve my level to keep going further in the tournament.” Norrie is scheduled to compete against Belgium’s Zizou Bergs for a position in the semi-finals.
