Blackburn Rovers’ goalkeeper, Aynsley Pears, is targeting his sixth consecutive clean sheet as the team prepares to face Millwall on Saturday at 15:00 GMT. The 26-year-old has prevented opponents from scoring in 10 out of his 20 Championship appearances, a statistic that places him joint-fourth highest in the league. Speaking to the club website, Pears stated: “It’s really good, we’re really happy and it’s a big goal of mine to keep as many as I can.” He further added: “It means we’re all doing our jobs, not just myself, and getting 10 out of 20 is pretty amazing and something we need to keep up.” Following a run of six consecutive victories, Rovers currently occupy fifth position in the league standings, trailing the automatic promotion spots by five points, with an outstanding match to play. Pears commented further, saying: “It’s been a brilliant start but there’s a long way to go and we’re all really focused to keep it going.” He continued: “We pride ourselves in being solid and hard to beat, and the forwards do their jobs. We’re defending very well as a team and we’re all happy and proud of one another.” Pears emphasized his personal commitment, stating: “You can’t rest for a minute. I’m desperate to keep a clean sheet, it’s what I’m thinking about every minute of every game.”
