Students from a college have gathered gifts and composed letters for individuals who will be receiving Christmas hampers. These items are intended for clients of Wolverhampton City Council’s meals on wheels service, which provides hot meals to registered participants. The initiative includes a special Christmas menu, featuring a mince pie and a cracker, in addition to the hampers. Laura Passmore, from Thomas Telford University Technical College, stated, “Kindness is one of our core values as a school and our staff and students work hard to demonstrate it daily, especially during the Christmas season.” She added, “Students and staff enjoy contributing to this meaningful initiative each year and we hope the personal letters will help bring people closer together.” The meals on wheels service has been operational for more than 30 years and is managed by the council’s catering team. Meals are cooked during transit to homes in specially designed vehicles, and the scheme is accessible to the public without requiring an assessment. Councillor Paula Brookfield commented, “We are thrilled that we’ll also be able to deliver these wonderful Christmas hampers.” She further expressed, “On behalf of the team and the council, I would like to express our gratitude to the staff and students at Thomas Telford UTC for their continued support in donations once again this year.”
