The search for a new head coach for the Scotland women’s national team is currently underway, with the Scottish Football Association (SFA) aiming to confirm a replacement for Pedro Martinez Losa as quickly as possible, according to chief executive Ian Maxwell. The Spanish coach departed following the nation’s failure to secure qualification for Euro 2025. This outcome came after his team’s 2-0 aggregate loss to play-off opponents Finland earlier this month. Martinez Losa had also previously failed to guide the Scottish squad to the 2023 World Cup via the play-offs. Speaking to BBC Scotland, Maxwell expressed his views, stating: “It’s very disappointing not to qualify for last two tournaments. Football is results-driven business. “We have a talented squad of players and we want to make sure we can qualify for tournaments.” He elaborated on the ongoing efforts, adding: “The recruitment process has started and we’ll aim to get the best candidate in place as soon as possible.” Maxwell further emphasized the urgency, concluding: “It’s always a difficult and interesting process, but we want to get the right person in place as soon as possible.”
