Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing accusations of rape and sexual assault from three additional men, as detailed in a series of new lawsuits. These legal filings claim the rapper drugged and assaulted the plaintiffs. These complaints were submitted individually to the New York Supreme Court on Thursday and pertain to alleged incidents spanning the years 2019 to 2022. According to two of the plaintiffs, they attended parties with Mr. Combs, where he “personally offered” them alcoholic beverages that rendered them unconscious, after which they claim he raped them. Attorneys representing the rapper have rejected the lawsuits, characterizing them as “full of lies.” Mr. Combs is currently being held in a Brooklyn jail. In a statement provided to the BBC, the rapper’s legal team asserted, “We will prove them false and seek sanctions against every unethical lawyer who filed fictional claims against him.” These three lawsuits contribute to more than 30 civil actions already initiated against Mr. Combs, a significant number of which involve comparable allegations of sexual assault extending back to the 1990s. Mr. Combs has been refused bail on three occasions and is presently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Thomas Giuffra, the attorney responsible for filing these three lawsuits on behalf of his clients, informed the BBC in an interview that over 60 individuals have contacted his firm with allegations against Mr. Combs. He stated that his office conducted investigations into each claim and opted to proceed with these three specific cases. He also mentioned that the men chose to file their lawsuits anonymously due to their fear of Mr. Combs and his extensive influence. One of the recently filed lawsuits features an anonymous plaintiff, identified as John Doe, who accuses Mr. Combs of assault after an incident at the Marquee nightclub in New York during 2019. His complaint details that he joined Mr. Combs and 10 other people at a private afterparty, where the hip-hop mogul “personally offered” him a cocktail, subsequently causing him to feel disoriented. The man claims Mr. Combs observed his disoriented condition and remarked, “He is ready to party.” The man asserts he lost consciousness and, during fleeting periods of awareness, observed a man and a woman filming while he was being raped by the musician. The next morning, the man alleges he received approximately $2,500 (£2,000) from the man and woman who recorded the assault, who stated the funds originated from Mr. Combs. A separate anonymous plaintiff claims he was present at a party at Mr. Combs’ East Hampton residence in the summer of 2020. After consuming alcohol supplied by Mr. Combs, the man states he started to lose consciousness. While “fading in and out of consciousness,” he alleges that Mr. Combs and other individuals associated with Bad Boys Entertainment “took turns raping him.” The third anonymous man asserts he first encountered Mr. Combs in 2006 and subsequently started working for him. He alleges that in February 2020, he met Mr. Combs at a hotel to address outstanding wages. During this meeting, he claims the rapper made him a drink that he suspects was drugged. He states he then lost consciousness and awoke to discover Mr. Combs assaulting him. The lawsuit indicates that Mr. Combs purportedly told him he would appear foolish if he reported the incident to the police and that no one would ever credit his story. Separately, Mr. Combs is also confronting federal criminal charges related to a sex-trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. Authorities contend that the celebrity orchestrated an extensive scheme involving sexual abuse and exploitation, which included organizing events fueled by drugs and featuring male sex workers. Mr. Combs has entered a plea of not guilty to all allegations. His legal representatives have consistently maintained his innocence. The trial is set to commence in May. Copyright 2024 BBC.
