A five-year-old girl completed a 50-mile journey on her scooter, undertaking the challenge to generate funds for a charity dedicated to addressing homelessness. Bobbie, a resident of Bebington in Wirral, accomplished this endeavor over a period of four weeks, successfully collecting over £3,000 for Wirral Ark. The young schoolgirl expressed her motivation to assist homeless individuals, stating, “because I want them to be able to live in a house with lovely things”. Her mother, Jordan, described as “very proud,” commented on Bobbie’s “amazing” accomplishment, noting that her daughter had “try so hard in all weathers”. Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside, Bobbie shared that it was “exciting” to have her friends and family offering encouragement as she reached the finish line. She explained her decision to support Wirral Ark by stating, “I like the charity… for caring about people”. Jordan indicated that each £1,000 collected was sufficient to support a rough sleeper in beginning a new life in independent accommodation. “So because Bobbie has raised £3,000 hopefully we can help at least three people.” Jordan also mentioned that the funds would “just help lots of people – we don’t like seeing anyone go cold”. Discussing her daughter’s commitment to aiding homeless individuals, Jordan elaborated: “Bobbie has been learning about it in school and she has always been quite empathetic to people who are on the streets and sleeping rough.” “For her to say ‘I want to help these people’ we just thought was amazing and we thought we’d just roll with it.” “She’s done so fab and we’re just so proud of her.” For additional content, listeners can access the best of BBC Radio Merseyside on Sounds and follow BBC Merseyside on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
