Guildford Borough Council, a Surrey authority, has announced modifications to its waste collection services scheduled between Christmas and the New Year. The council is advising residents to consult the updated schedule to minimize any inconvenience. Alterations to the regular collection timetable are anticipated on December 25, 26, and 27, as well as January 1, 2, and 3, 2025. George Potter, the lead councillor for environmental services, also urged individuals to “check what they can put in their recycling especially at this time of year.” He further reminded residents that “glitter-covered and non-paper gift wraps” are not suitable for recycling. No changes are planned for December 23 and 24. Collections originally set for December 25 have been moved to December 27. Waste collections on December 26 and 27 have been rescheduled to December 28 and 29, respectively. Collections on December 30 and 31 will proceed as usual. Furthermore, collections on January 1, 2, and 3, 2025, will be postponed by a single day. The detailed schedule of these changes is available for residents to view on the council’s official website and its social media platforms.
