Approximately 1,500 motorcyclists, many adorned in festive attire, participated in a convoy through various areas of Berkshire to deliver presents for children. Organized by Reading Christian Motorcyclists, this event, known as the Reading Toy Run, involves riders transporting toy gifts to the children’s charity Barnardo’s. The group commenced its journey from Thames Valley Science Park in Shinfield at approximately 13:00 GMT. Thousands of spectators braved the wet weather conditions to observe the spectacle, offering cheers and waves. The inaugural Reading Toy Run, which took place in 1985, saw 18 motorcyclists participate, delivering gifts to children at the Battle Hospital. This year’s itinerary guided the procession from Winnersh to Wokingham, traversing the A327, Lower Earley Way, Showcase roundabout, Reading Road, and Rectory Road, culminating on Wiltshire Road. Road closures were implemented and remained in effect until 14:30. For further engagement, BBC Berkshire can be followed on Facebook, X, or Instagram. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
