Everton manager Sean Dyche has suggested that players whose contracts are due to expire next summer might find an “incentive” to elevate their performance levels. The Blues currently have 12 players—eight on permanent deals and four on loan—whose contracts are set to conclude when the season finishes. This list includes prominent players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, captain Seamus Coleman, and centre-back Michael Keane. However, ongoing discussions regarding a potential takeover of the club are making it challenging for contract negotiations to proceed. Dyche commented on the individual nature of players’ situations, stating, “Each player is different. Whether you are in or out of contract, your goal should be the same,” adding, “Playing well consistently for the club, that shouldn’t change.” He further suggested a potential motivational factor: “You could argue that if your contract is coming to an end then that can add a bit of incentive, because if there is not a lot of noise about you then you need to create the noise.” Regarding the current circumstances, Dyche remarked, “I don’t think it is a terrible or questionable situation. It is just the reality at the moment. People know a lot about the history of contract situations at this club – we are just down a different road at the moment.” He acknowledged the impact of the club’s ownership situation, stating, “It is not helpful with ownership situation, but we just have to wait and see.”
