The family of a teenager who died in a motorbike collision has stated that he possessed the “biggest heart.” Spencer Crofts, 17, from Woodchurch, Wirral, succumbed to his injuries at the scene on Hoole Road, Woodchurch, following the incident that occurred around 18:25 GMT on Saturday. In their tribute to Mr. Crofts, his family characterized him as “the most loyal, genuine lad” who was “always smiling and lived life to the full.” Merseyside Police reported that an 18-year-old man also sustained multiple serious injuries and is currently in critical condition at a hospital. Chief Inspector Charlotte Irlam commented: “Our thoughts are with the family of Spencer Crofts, who died following the collision last night and I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to members of the public who have any information, which could assist our inquiries to establish how this young man lost his life, to come forward.” Specially trained officers are providing support to the families of both Mr. Crofts and the injured man. Police added that the collision involved a red and black scrambler bike, ridden by Mr. Crofts, and a Suron electric bike, and took place at the junction of Hoole Road and Grass Wood Road. Merseyside Police stated that a number of young people were present in the area at the time, and following the crash, both bikes had been “immediately removed by some of those in attendance.” Forensic examinations are currently underway, alongside house-to-house inquiries and the review of CCTV footage. Authorities indicated that local officers would be providing reassurance in the area, supported by specialist officers. Chief Inspector Irlam mentioned that police are examining a scrambler bike found in the area to determine if it was one of the vehicles involved in the collision. She urged the young people who were in the area at the time “to search their conscience and get in touch with us.” Chief Inspector Irlam further stated that Mr. Crofts and the man injured in the crash “may well have been your friends and surely you would want us to be able to tell the families why and how this happened.” She added, “They will need answers going forward and you may well be able to help us to do that.” Merseyside Police has appealed to anyone with information or video footage to contact them.
