Durham has secured victories in nine out of their thirteen matches across all competitions this season. According to Head Coach Adam Furness, his Durham Women team is content with maintaining a low profile, even after advancing to the League Cup quarter-finals. Durham secured a 2-1 victory against Sunderland in the River Wear derby, which allowed them to finish first in Group B and claim a spot in the last eight. They are the sole Women’s Championship club to reach this stage, joining the WSL’s prominent trio: Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City. Furness stated to BBC Radio Newcastle, “There are lots of teams in our league who’ve got huge profile, huge squads, international players,” He continued, “We’re not one of those. We just go about our business, do what we can do with the players we’ve got and if that means staying under the radar a little bit longer, long may that continue.” Durham currently holds the second position in the Championship, sharing the same number of points as Birmingham City, and has progressed to the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup, marking a highly successful beginning to their season. The team is scheduled to play Bristol City on Sunday in their last match before the winter break, and Furness expressed immense commendation for his players’ performance. He remarked, “The entire group has just run through a brick wall again,” Adding, “We’re punching well above our weight at the minute, but we keep doing it week after week.” He concluded, “It’s brilliant to see, the group is absolutely flying and from our perspective, just keep rolling the games in front of us and we’ll see what we can do.” Post navigation Manchester United Reportedly Considering January Sale of Zirkzee Mikulic Expresses Readiness and Comfort at St Johnstone, Reuniting with Valakari
