A proposal for the construction of a 72-bed care home in a Nottinghamshire village has been lodged. Synergy Care Developments intends to construct this facility on The Crescent, a private thoroughfare accessible via Bingham Road in Radcliffe on Trent. The land is presently occupied by Walter Harrison & Sons, a division of Pedigree Wholesale Limited, which operates as a producer and wholesaler of wild birdseed pet products. This company has been situated at the location since 1906 but is scheduled to move to a different unit in January, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS). Should the application presented to Rushcliffe Borough Council receive approval, the current structures would be razed to accommodate a three-storey building designed in a “T” shape. The LDRS also noted that the plans include three private residential gardens, a lounge, a dining area, and cafe areas. The oldest structure on the premises is a tall brick edifice, identified as Harrisons Mill, which dates back to the 1930s. Planning documents indicate that converting the mill building, currently vacant, either partially or fully, is impractical due to its “poor state of repair and would require significant investment” for refurbishment. A determination regarding the application is anticipated at a subsequent time. BBC Nottingham can be followed on Facebook, X, or Instagram.
