A 19-year-old woman sustained potentially life-changing injuries after an unmarked police vehicle struck her while she was walking. The car, which was responding to an emergency, was traveling through Emersons Green, South Gloucestershire, when it came into collision with the pedestrian on a roundabout at approximately 18:30 GMT on Sunday. Avon and Somerset Police reported that the woman received first aid from police officers and paramedics at the scene before her transfer to a hospital. The force has subsequently referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding the incident, a step that is mandatory. The police car had its blue lights and siren activated at the moment of the incident. The officers who were inside the vehicle did not sustain injuries in the collision and will be provided with welfare support by Avon and Somerset Police.
