A cemetery in Coventry will feature a night-time lantern trail across its premises, signifying the culmination of a five-year creative initiative in the city. The Night Time Menagerie, held at London Road Cemetery, is set to include illuminated installations and puppets designed to recount the history of the cemetery and its former inhabitants, as well as their encounters with animals. Historic Coventry Trust partnered with the Fabularium Theatre Company to develop this production. The guided trail, which covers a distance of one mile (1.6km), received financial support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Coventry City Council. Over the last five years, the project has facilitated various arts, history, and wellbeing activities at the cemetery. Jennie Rutte, from Historic Coventry Trust, commented that the Night Time Menagerie represents an ideal conclusion and demonstrates the significant work undertaken by volunteers in researching the life stories of “residents.” Students from Coventry University assisted with the artwork, which was conceptualized and crafted by artists Pippa Church and Joff Chafer. The trail is scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday.
