Having previously reached the FA Trophy final in 2008, Torquay United secured their spot in the fourth round of the competition by achieving a 2-0 victory against Horsham at Plainmoor. Brad Ash opened the scoring for the Gulls with a glancing header, four minutes into the second half of the rescheduled match. The initial fixture, planned for Saturday, had been postponed due to Storm Darragh. The Gulls’ win against their seventh-tier adversaries was confirmed when Dan Hayfield struck a low drive from the edge of the penalty area, with 21 minutes remaining in the game. Torquay is scheduled to play away against Gosport Borough, a Southern League Premier Division South team, in the last 32 stage of the tournament on 4 January. Following the triumph, manager Paul Wotton commented to BBC Radio Devon, stating, “I think we’re in a good place.” He added, “The boys are working hard and, even though it wasn’t pretty, it keeps that momentum going.”
