An artist described being invited to personally deliver two charcoal drawings of Tom Cruise to the *Top Gun* actor as “the most surreal moment” of his life. Wilf Elliott, who hails from Clacton-on-Sea in Essex, had previously presented his artwork to musicians such as Sam Ryder and Zara Larsson. However, he expressed astonishment when Tom Cruise’s team contacted him. The 21-year-old tattoo artist stated, “I found out Tom had opened up my artwork on set, and I decided it would be a great idea to draw another one, and then I got a text to say he’d like to meet me in person.” He added, “I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to get someone as big as that ever again.” Approximately 18 months prior, Mr. Elliott began depicting a scene from *Top Gun: Maverick*, which he identifies as one of his preferred films. “Actually seeing someone like that and him knowing who I was before I met him was incredibly surreal,” he further remarked. He mentioned that he commenced drawing during the coronavirus lockdown period as a way to occupy his time. His creations have since garnered social media recognition from notable figures, including former Welsh football captain and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale. Earlier this year, he traveled to Sweden to present a portrait of the deceased DJ Avicii to the musician’s father, Klas Bergling. He also noted that rapper Post Malone and actor Jim Carrey were prominent figures on his “wish list” for future subjects. For updates on Essex news, follow BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
