A man has been taken into custody following the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in the early hours of Sunday. Northamptonshire Police reported that the incident occurred at 01:55 GMT on the A4500 in Earls Barton. The force specified that a black Ford pickup collided with the pedestrian near the junction with Wellingborough Road. The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 60-year-old man from Wellingborough has been arrested in connection with the event. Authorities confirmed his arrest was for driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit and causing death by driving without due care or consideration while over specified limit. He has since been released on bail as further inquiries are conducted. Officers have appealed to any witnesses, or individuals with CCTV or dashcam footage, to make contact with them.
