A film designed to motivate individuals to become foster carers is scheduled for a screening in Surrey this Thursday. The film, named Everything, will be shown at a private screening held at the Nova Cinema in Woking. Presently, the council faces a situation where the number of children requiring fostering is over double the available foster carers. Existing foster carers and young people who have experienced the care system will be present to address inquiries from prospective volunteers. Clare Curran, the cabinet member responsible for children, families, and lifelong learning, stated: “We have over 1,000 children in our care and we currently have just under 400 foster families.“The ‘Everything’ project has given our fostering service an amazing film that shows the long-term impact that fostering can have, with relationships between carers and children lasting well into adulthood.”Every council wants to recruit more foster carers, and by collaborating to produce this emotionally powerful film, we can show people how rewarding and life-changing being a foster carer can be.“Our ambition is for at least 30 new foster families across Surrey to join us by the end of March 2025.” Reservations for tickets to the event are open.
