Woman Charged with Murder Following Death of Five-Year-Old Boy

A woman is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of a five-year-old boy. Lincoln Button passed away on 15 December at a property located on Windstar Drive in South Ockendon, Essex. A woman received hospital treatment, and following an improvement in her condition, she was arrested and interrogated. Claire Button, aged 35, residing at Windstar Drive, South Ockendon, has been formally accused of murder and is scheduled to appear before magistrates in Southend on Monday. Det Ch Insp Alan Blakesley of Essex Police stated: “This continues to prove to be an immensely complex investigation into the death of a young child.” He added, “My thoughts and the thoughts of all the investigative team remain with the family of Lincoln Button as we continue to support them through this awful time.” Blakesley further remarked, “It has taken a huge amount of work and dedication from the investigative team to reach this stage in our investigation and I would continue to call upon the public to refrain from speculating about the circumstances around this case.” Bonnygate Primary School, in a statement issued last week, confirmed its close cooperation with authorities during the investigation into Lincoln’s death.
