A proposal for a caravan storage site on agricultural land has been recommended for refusal by planning officials. The plans involve storing up to 642 mobile homes off Ashton Lane in Braithwell. Doncaster councillors Martin Greenhalgh and Nigel Cannings contended that there was substantial demand for such a facility. However, council planning officers indicated that the site is designated green belt land and advised that the planning application should be rejected at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday. The applicant, Pawson Group, asserted a “pressing need” for caravan sites in the area, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service. The proposals also include provisions for a wildlife area at the site. Despite this, Doncaster Council’s planning team determined that any benefits would not compensate for the “harms” caused to the green belt. They stated: “The site is not an appropriate location for the proposed development due to its countryside location and poor levels of accessibility.” A final determination will be made by councillors at the aforementioned meeting.
