Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has indicated that Arthur Okonkwo is still “a while” from returning to play following an injury. The goalkeeper has been out of contention since 9 November, when he sustained a broken wrist during his team’s 1-0 victory against Mansfield Town. Before Wrexham’s match against Bristol Rovers, Parkinson confirmed that both Okonkwo and forward Jack Marriott, who is recovering from a broken leg, were making positive progress in their respective recoveries. Following the 1-1 draw with the Gas on Saturday, Parkinson stated that Wrexham will continue to closely monitor Okonkwo before clearing him to return to action. Parkinson remarked, “Arthur, he’s going to be a while but there’s no problem with the bone and the way it’s healed which is great.” He further added, “I don’t really want to put a [return] date, let’s just see how he progresses over the next week or so.” Parkinson also commended Mark Howard, saying, “Mark’s [Mark Howard] been brilliant, his kicking today [against Bristol Rovers] and his all-round calmness was superb.”
