Relieved St Mirren captain Mark O’Hara asserted that his team’s mutual “trust” was the key factor in breaking their four-game losing streak, culminating in a comeback victory against St Johnstone. O’Hara scored the Buddies’ second goal in Paisley as they rallied from an early deficit to secure a crucial 3-1 win. “It’s massive,” the midfielder stated. “You feel a bit of relief when you’ve been in a bit of a rut and things just aren’t going your way.” He continued, “That first win is a long time coming, but when it does come, it’s just relief and it’s time we build on it.” O’Hara further explained, “We just trust each other. We started the game well. Maybe they scored against the run of play. We just stuck to the gameplan and no one put their heads down in that changing room the whole time we’ve been in this rut.” He added, “The team spirit is great and the belief is there and I’m sure it will stand us in good stead this season.” After Benjamin Kimpioka put St Johnstone ahead, Scott Tanser leveled the score for the hosts with a superb strike into the top corner. This was followed by O’Hara’s header and a late third goal from substitute Jonah Ayunga, completing the comeback. “Even to go 1-0 down it’s not ideal, but we’ve shown a bit of character to come back from the last games, and the setback tonight, and we never doubted each other,” O’Hara remarked. He expressed hope, “We just keep trusting each other and and our time will come. Hopefully now we’ll go on a similar run with wins.” Stephen Robinson, the team’s manager, had been forthright during the side’s losing run, and O’Hara elaborated on what the manager had demanded. O’Hara clarified, “When he says back to basics, it’s simplifying the game and playing more in the opponent’s half than we have been, and not inviting pressure on ourselves and limiting the number of mistakes.” He concluded, “That’s what we’ve done in the last couple of games, and it’s been successful for us.” Post navigation Thunder and Bucks Secure Spots in NBA Cup Semi-finals England Squad Adds Murley for Japan Test as Feyi-Waboso Continues Recovery
