Eight individuals required hospital treatment due to fume inhalation. Emergency responders were dispatched at 08:15 GMT to a commercial premises situated on Brunel Way in Thetford, Norfolk, in response to a chemical leak. According to the East of England Ambulance Service, a total of 20 individuals underwent assessment at the site, with seven women and one man subsequently transported to West Suffolk Hospital for additional medical attention. An ambulance spokesman stated, “The eight transported patients were for minor injuries and also for further assessment and care.” Four ambulances, four paramedic cars, and three hazardous area response team vehicles were deployed to the location after reports emerged of individuals experiencing illness. Personnel from Norfolk Police and fire brigades originating from Thetford, Sprowston, and East Harling were also present. The fire service confirmed its dispatch to a chemical leak at the specified address, clarifying that there was “no explosion.” Emergency crews departed the scene shortly after 11:00. The Health and Safety Executive acknowledged its awareness of the incident and indicated it was conducting inquiries.
