An individual in his 40s suffered what is believed to be a gunshot wound during an assault in Coalisland, County Tyrone. The man informed law enforcement that on Wednesday evening, while he was seated in a vehicle within the town, two men approached him. He stated that a suspected firearm was inserted through his vehicle’s window, and he was subsequently shot in the arm prior to 19:00 GMT. Although the man received hospital treatment, authorities indicated that his injury is not considered life-threatening. A PSNI detective inspector condemned the incident, stating: “It’s appalling that anyone should be attacked in this way, especially in the early evening when the area would have been busy with shoppers and commuters. There is no place in our society for this type of vigilante justice and we are fortunate that the outcome was not much more serious.” Law enforcement officials have expressed a strong interest in receiving information from any witnesses present in The Lines area of Coalisland, specifically from Canal Quay to the car park at the retail premises, between 18:00 and 18:40 GMT.
