Coventry City captain Ben Sheaf has stated that the team experienced an “enjoyable” initial week of training under new head coach Frank Lampard. Sheaf noted that Lampard has infused the squad with energy and positivity as they prepare for Saturday’s away fixture against Millwall. Following a late draw in Lampard’s inaugural match against Cardiff City last weekend, The Sky Blues will travel to south east London seeking their first victory under his leadership, after completing his first full week with the players. “It’s been enjoyable,” Sheaf conveyed to BBC CWR. He added, “New information, good new energy, positive energy around the place. Hopefully we can take that into the game.” Sheaf further remarked on the impact of the coaching change: “Like every change, there’s going to be a few bits and bobs that are different, but sometimes change is good, and it can give some a kick up the backside. You look at yourself in the mirror and think, ‘What can I do differently?’ It’s a positive change.” Their opponents, Millwall, known as The Lions, are currently in strong form, aiming to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games. Prior to kick-off, Millwall plans to honor their former legendary manager, John Docherty, who passed away this week at the age of 84. A primary focus for Sheaf at the New Den stadium will be to reinforce Coventry’s defensive line, which has conceded two goals in each of their previous five matches. “Conceding goals isn’t just down to the back four and the goalkeeper. It’s down to everyone and starts from the front,” Sheaf explained. He continued, “We’re conceding too many goals and really poor goals at that. You’ve just got to do the workout on the training pitch, and hopefully we can change that record.”
